The Wobbler
The Wobbler
The Wobbler is a sound-activated sculpture that makes Jell-O wiggle. The Wobbler vibrating sculpture is made up of a square wooden frame with a floating platform suspended on two bungee cords. A vibrating motor is attached to the underside of the platform, with wires connecting to an Arduino microprocessor and microphone. The microphone responds to audio input (voice, music) which triggers the vibrating motor to move and make the Jell-O, wiggle. This is a new direction for my artwork and is the first time I have used food and tech together. I’m fascinated by this invention and the experimental nature of the piece. I’ve been interacting with this artwork in multiple ways. The Wobbler has been in residence in two exhibitions at Artport Kingston in Kingston, NY where people have been interacting with the sculpture: singing, yelling, talking, whispering, and clapping- making the jello wiggle.
